Welcome
My name is Bob Wessels. I am the author of Rembrandt’s Money: The legal and financial life of an artist-entrepreneur in 17th century Holland. I have been an independent (international) legal counsel, advisor and arbitrator, with over 45 years of business experience. For over 25 years I also acted as a Deputy Justice in the Court of Appeal in The Hague. From 1988-2014 I have been a law professor (civil law, commercial law, insolvency law) at the Vrije University in Amsterdam and the University of Leiden. The website bobwessels.nl illustrates a number of my past and present activities.
The website rembrandtsmoney.com builds on my book Rembrandt’s Money (Deventer: Wolters Kluwer, 457 pp., ISBN 9789013164893). It is also a response to the reception the book has received (law reviews in England, Germany and Belgium) and to reactions of readers and audiences during conferences for lawyers, financial specialists, attorneys and judges, legal research gatherings, cultural-historical and Art & Law events and Rotary meetings (in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and the UK).
You can follow me through my blog. You can also find me on LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram. For further information please do not hesitate to contact me.
